Plymouth State is the only NH university that boasts an integrated social studies program where education courses are taught by experienced and certified social studies professors across all four years-- modeling the strategies and merging them with core disciplines. Plymouth State also hosts National History Day and Model UN Programs for New Hampshire. We are dedicated to enhancing social studies education across New Hampshire.

Standards Framework
In 2024-2025, faculty at Plymouth State and stakeholders around New Hampshire developed and adopted a Framework for New Hampshire Social Studies. The framework is PK to 12th grade and it is the framework and supports on which preservice teachers are trained.
Professional Development

National History Day in New Hampshire
NHD is an education program designed to help students doing historical research. Nearly one million students participate nationwide. New Hampshire's program has been hosted by Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH since 2003.
